Burma Star Association - B.C. Chapter

Johnny Haddock lives in London, England and is extremely interested in our branch affairs. He is a direct relative of Major Charles Hoey V.C. whom we honor yearly at the Cross of Remembrance in Duncan on Vancouver Island, Major Hoey's birthplace.

Johnny Haddock has flown from England to participate in this annual ceremony twice, and on both occasions has delivered a moving address. In a softly spoken, beautiful Oxford accent he delivers a message from the heart to a hushed assembly. Johnny is held in the highest esteem by both BSA our Branches. He has made many friends within these branches and is always welcomed at our meetings and various functions. To read his speeches please click here.
Johnny recently sent me a very interesting web site. It presents a magnificent photographic display of Burma and the Arakan and its people as well as the renowned Taukkyan cemetery and the Rangoon Cemetery. This delightfully presented web-site is the dedicated work of the son of Mr. Hoyland "Bert" Barrack, a Burma Star veteran who made a veteran's tour of Burma in March 2005. Mr. Barrack was also a member of Major Charles Hoey's 1st Battalion, Linolnshire Regiment during the Burma Campaign.
From other entries on this website, you know that the British Columbia Chapter of the Burma Star Association honor the life of Major Hoey who earned both the VC and MC. The ceremony takes place annually in Duncan, on Vancouver Island, which was the home of Major Charles Hoey and his family.
Please don't miss the chance to view this wonderful web-site:
