Arakan Park, August 17, 2009
This year, the annual observation of the end of World War II again took place at Arakan Park, an area of Cowichan Provincial Park outside of Duncan BC on Monday, August 17. Some members joined the bus at the Legion while others were picked up along the way. We took the ferry from Swartz Bay to Vancouver Island. In Duncan, we were joined by two more cars with members from Duncan and a piper. We then proceeded to the Stoltz Pool area of the Cowichan Park, and walked to the monument. After a brief, but moving ceremony at the memorial, we drove back to Duncan for another ceremony at the Park.
