Burma Star Association - B.C. Chapter

August 15, 2007
This year, the Vancouver chapter arranged to have the bus and driver from the Coquitlam Legion drive the members to the ferry. Some members joined the bus at the legion early that morning, while the bus picked up a few others en route. The remaining members joined the group on the ferry and in the park itself. The bus arrived at Stolz Pool in the Cowichan Park in time to see the members from Duncan and Victoria emerge from the Arakan Monument to the parking lot. They obligingly turned around and marched back to the monument. There, augmented by the group from Vancouver. they performed the ceremony again, from the speeches to the laying wreaths on the memorial.
We then proceeded to drive to the City of Duncan to the cenotaph in the centre of that city. This year, there were no gremlins to plaque the gathering. We were pleased that Johnny Haddock could join us once again and speak to the gathering. After a light lunch of soup and sandwiches, we set off hoping to catch the earlier ferry. We just missed it by three vehicles!
