In June, Vancouver Branch member Michael Williams attended the ceremony to unveil a new Chindit Memorial at the National Memorial Ar;boretum in Alrewas near Lichfield, SouthStaffordshire, close to the Burma Star Memorial there.

Charterhouse School Memorial Chapel

On Novermber 11, 2007, Michael Williams was the 'Chindit' officer chosen to lay the wreath at the Remembrance Day Service in the General Orde Wingate Memorial Chapel in Charterhouse School. General Wingate is a Carthusian ('old boy') of Chartershouse School. The service was attended by some 700 students pluse their families and friends. It is a long-standing tradition that the School's Governors invite a 'Chindit' to lay the wreath at this service. Michael Williams and his wife Penny were the guests of the Headmaster before and after the Service.

Other famous Carthusians include Robert Baden-Powell (founder of the Scout movement) and George Leigh Mallory (who disappeared in the 1924 Mount Everest expedition), and scores of Army, Navy and Air Force commanders.
